Jerry is an obsessive, frustrated theatre director. He decides to turn his back on the artificial world of the theatre and establish a village. He undertakes a controversial project in the village that changes the natural course of the river, which previously surrounded the entire village.
Jerry can no longer find harmony in his family life. His pregnant wife Carly is disappointed and blames Jerry for being obsessed with his river project. One night, when Jerry is not at home, the river floods the village. Everyone dies, including Carly and her unborn child.
Jerry’s reality falters in dreams and hallucinations. He has visions of his deceased villagers. He sees his unborn child in several guises until he eventually recognises his son as an old man.
